Community Outreach Projects

Listed below are the Community Outreach Projects the Redlands Branch of the MTAC currently promotes.

Music Students' Service League In September 2002, our Branch chartered a brand new chapter of MSSL. Local projects include community based recitals at local retirement homes and the Ronald McDonald House, in addition to assisting at a number of Redlands Branch events.
Music Scholarship Program The Redlands Branch currently funds two types of scholarships: one for high school seniors planning to major or minor in music; the other for music majors pursuing a BM degree at the University of Redlands (this also includes a sponsored feature recital.) Future plans for the program include the creation of a need-based scholarship.
Practice-A-Thon The Practice-A-Thon is a fundraising program sponsored by the Redlands Branch of the Music Teachers’ Association of California. Both Student and Teachers will be able to raise money by having donors sponsor students for every hour they practice. Proceeds generated by the Practice-A-Thon will go toward building a scholarship endowment that will benefit deserving students and a designated charitable cause. Previous recipients include: the Loma Linda Children's Hospital and the Knott's Family Agency, and the music collection at the AK Smiley Library.
